Overview of Cathay Pacific Asia Miles Flight Award Chart
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles required for different destinations are determined based on the flight distance. Simply put, the longer the flight, the more Asia Miles you need to redeem. The key flight distance zones are divided into 5 categories, ranging from “Ultra-short” flights to “Ultra-long” flights. It’s also worth mentioning that since October 2023, Cathay Pacific has adjusted the Flight Reward conversion table, now that the short-haul flights are divided into 2 types (Type 1 and Type 2), and it takes more miles to redeem tickets to popular destinations such as Tokyo and other places in Japan.

Frequently asked questions: Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
What are the changes to the required Asia Miles for redeeming Cathay Pacific flight tickets that took effect on April 15, 2025?
The changes are a mix of increases and decreases, depending on the route distance and cabin class. For Example, Short Haul Economy – Type 1 went from 10,000 miles down to 9,000 miles one-way. However, For Short Haul Economy – Type 2, went from 12,500 miles up to 13,000 miles one-way.
Did the April 15, 2025 adjustments affect Premium Economy, First Class, upgrades, companion tickets, or partner airline redemptions?
No, the changes announced and implemented on April 15, 2025, were specifically targeted at certain Economy and Business Class Standard Awards on Cathay Pacific operated flights only.
I booked a Cathay Pacific award ticket before April 15, 2025, for travel after this date. Do I need to pay the difference in miles if the price went up?
No. Award tickets booked and issued before the changes took effect on April 15, 2025, will honour the mileage rate applicable at the time of booking. You won’t be asked to pay additional miles if the price for that route/cabin subsequently increased, as long as you don’t make changes to the itinerary (like changing destination or airline) that would require re-issuing the ticket under the new chart. Changing just the date usually doesn’t trigger a re-pricing, but changing the route would.
