In May 2023, Netflix changed its policy and no longer allows account sharing. However, standard and premium account users can choose to add additional member slots for HK$28 per person per month. Check out the blog post for more details: Netflix Account Sharing in Hong Kong: Is It Still Possible?
What is the difference between sharing your Netflix account?
Sharing your Netflix account means a Netflix account is meant to be shared by people living together in one household, while if you have plan to share the Netflix account with someone who doesn’t live with you, they buy an extra member slot to add an extra member to your account for HK$28.
Amazon Prime Video: HK$46.7 per Month
The Amazon Prime Video streaming service is a bargain for customers, with a regular price of US$5.99 per month, which equates to roughly HK$46.7. This is less expensive than several other platforms, in the case of a single account. The platform mainly features content from European and American movies, including their hit original series “The Boys,” which enjoys significant popularity in North America. The well-known, long-running car show “The Grand Tour” is another incentive for many to subscribe to Prime Video.
However, Amazon Prime only offers a 7-day free trial period. Another drawback is the limited number of movies and TV shows that provide Chinese subtitles.
Disney+: Monthly Streaming Service Fee Can Be HK$8.7 per Month
Disney+ delivers a treasure trove of more than 1,200 films and 16,000 programs from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and STAR. What’s more, you can share the access with up to 7 friends, paying as little as HK$8.7 per person per month. (It’s a self-made Disney+ family plan!)
You can opt for the annual fee of HK$738 (HK$738 / 12 months / 7 users = $8.7 per month), but keep in mind that only 4 devices can be logged in simultaneously. It’s a case of “the more, the merrier”, but just remember to set some ground rules to avoid any streaming conflicts!
Disney+ Announces Price Increase in November 2023
Disney+ Hong Kong has announced that starting from November 1, 2023, they will offer 2 different subscription plans: “Disney+ Standard” and “Disney+ Premium.”

Plan | Monthly Fee | Annual Fee | Maximum Devices Streaming |
Disney+ Premium | HK$90 | HK$918 | Up to 4 devices |
Disney+ Standard | HK$73 | HK$738 | Up to 2 devices |
The “Disney+ Premium” plan is the existing Disney+ plan that allows up to 4 devices to stream simultaneously, supports 4K Ultra HD and HDR, and includes Dolby Atmos content. The cost will increase from the current monthly fee of HK$73/year fee of HK$738 to a monthly fee of HK$90/year fee of HK$918.
The “Disney+ Standard” plan is a new entry-level option with video and audio quality limited to 1080p and 5.1 channel sound. It allows streaming on up to 2 devices simultaneously. The price of this plan remains the same as the current charges, which is a monthly fee of HK$73/year fee of HK$738.
Existing Disney+ subscribers have the option to delay switching to the new plans for 1 month. If no changes are made, they will automatically be “upgraded” to the “Disney+ Premium” plan and will be charged the new fees on their next billing date on or after December 6, 2023.
