Tesla Model 3 overview: Better look, more range, more comfy interior

The 2024 Tesla Model 3 has finally been unveiled, much to the excitement of EV enthusiasts. A few hours after leaked images surfaced online, the sleek and stylish new model was officially introduced, sporting a refreshing exterior design. But that’s not all – the latest Model 3 also boasts an upgraded interior and an improved range, promising an even more impressive driving experience.

Look different from the outside

The 2024 Tesla Model 3 has undergone a mid-life facelift, and visually, the most significant changes can be seen on the front and rear fascias. The front sports a pair of slim LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights, above a revised bumper with sharper lines and a new lower grille opening. The rear has also been refreshed with new LED taillights, while Tesla has introduced new 18-inch Photon and 19-inch Nova wheels for the EV.

What about the inside? No steering stalks, bigger truck, bigger screen

Tesla has taken the minimalist philosophy to the next level with the 2024 Model 3. The new dashboard includes ambient lighting that flows into the doors, creating an immersive driving experience. Speaking of doors, the Model 3 now boasts new door panels. Tesla also introduced a new steering wheel that incorporates turn signals, eliminating stalks on the steering column. The gear selector has also been moved to the touchscreen, a polarising decision that may raise some eyebrows.

Tesla has reworked the seats, adding a ventilated function to the front seats, and improved the Model 3’s sound system to 17 speakers. Plus, the trunk has been enlarged to 594 litres, and passengers in the rear now have an 8-inch touchscreen with climate control and entertainment functions at their fingertips. The front infotainment screen has grown slightly to 15.4 inches, boasting slimmer bezels for a sleeker look.

Does the 2024 Tesla Model 3 perform better?

While Tesla has yet to unveil the complete specs for the 2024 Model 3 in the US, it has been confirmed that the new model boasts an increased range of 11-12% in Europe.

The entry-level Standard Range RWD can now travel 344 miles (554 km) on the WLTP cycle, while the Long Range can go up to 677 km (421 miles). The Standard Range variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.1 seconds, while the Long Range, with its two electric motors, can achieve the same speed in just 4.4 seconds.

As for the facelifted Model 3 Performance, its specs have yet to be announced.

While it’s still a mystery whether Tesla has tinkered with the battery to enhance the range, one thing is for sure: the drag coefficient has been dialled down from 0.23Cd to 0.219Cd, which no doubt contributes to the improved range. (The drag coefficient can be understood as a quantified number that shows the air resistance when a car is in motion.)

How much does the 2024 Model 3 cost?

Behold, the rumored prices of the 2024 Tesla Model 3:

Model Price On-roads fee
Standard Range RWD US$61,900 US$4,500

Standard Range RWD costs US$61,900 plus an on-roads fee of US$4,500, while Long Range AWD costs US$71,900 plus US$500 on-roads.
